Sabah FA terus longlai

Sabah FA terus longlai

Lagi satu, Sabah perlukan jurulatih berpengalaman. Supaya method latihan kasi slim player yang basarr babat dan fitness up. Jelius Ating hantar dulu dia berguru luar negara/negeri baru ambik balik.

Sekian. Majulah sukan untuk @fanrhinos.

Padang tiruan jejas persembahan pemain Felda United

Padang tiruan jejas persembahan pemain Felda United

Kapten Felda United, Muhammad Shukor Adan yakin gelaran juara Liga Premier 2018 akan menjadi milik pasukannya jika mereka berjaya mengekalkan momentum positif sehingga akhir musim.

MIFA lebur rekod tanpa kalah 'The Fighters'

Daunting task awaits Rhinos

Daunting task awaits Rhinos

KOTA KINABALU: Cash-strapped Sabah Rhinos vow to overcome their off-the-field woes by gunning for the points when they take on Felda United FC in a Premier League tie which kicks off at 10pm at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka, Pahang tonight.

The stateside, who are yet to register any win in their last five fixtures, are facing a daunting task against their high-riding opponents in getting the points or a point.

They will be a depleted side, and will take on the league leaders with only two foreign players under their ranks following the Sabah FA’s failure to sign any player to fill in the vacuum left by Koreans duo Lee Gil Hoong and Heo Jaenyeong, who left the team at the end of their contracts on May 17.

The FA is believed to be in financial turmoil, and unless they can solve their financial woes in this short period, the stateside will be playing the remainder of their matches with two imports players.

For the record, the mid-season transfer window, which is ongoing now, will close on June 3. Despite the hiccups, head coach Jelius Ating, remains upbeat on getting the job done, and stunning the leaders at their own turf.

For the record, in their first meeting, they drew one-all at the Likas Stadium on April 14.

“Despite having to play this game with just two import players, it does not mean we can not do well. In fact, this is also an opportunity for the local players to fight for a place in the first team.

“I have confidence in the local players to deliver or at least return with a point. However, we got to admit the fact that this will be one tough game for us, especially when we will only use two import players, but we will try our best to get a good result tomorrow,” said Jelius when contacted yesterday, “I hope that we will be back to full strength by completing our two foreign imports quota for our next game against UKM FC on June 2,” he added.

Jelius hinted that tonight, he is likely to deploy a 4-4-2 formation with Robson Rendy Rinning retained as the No. 1 ball stopper while skipper Rawilson Batuil and Zambian Francis Kasonde will be at the centre of the backline with Randy Baruh on the right and Jenius Karib on the left.

Mafry Balang will be pushed up to play in midfield alongside Mohd Azzizan Nordin.

The duo will orchestrate the engine room with Maxsius Musa and Sabri Sahar on either side of midfield. Pito Ramos is expected to spearhead the attack with the fit-again Rahman Shah Marajeh.

Rozaimi Rohim, Evan Wensley Wenceslaus, Dendy Lowa, Leopold Alfonso Otong, Ummareng Bacok, Ricco Nigel Milus and Harman Peter were also part of the travelling squad.

Junior Rhinos in quarters

Junior Rhinos in quarters

KOTA KINABALU: The Junior Rhinos have accomplished their pre-season target of making it into the quarter-finals in the 2018 President’s Cup campaign.

The state U-21 side are one of the two teams in Group A that have booked their berth in the last eight with four matches to spare. The other team are Kedah.

Junior Rhinos are the current leaders in the group with 37 points from 12 wins, one draw and three defeats, while second-placed Kedah are on 35 points from 10 wins, five draws and one defeat.

Losing their remaining matches will still see both teams conclude the group stage in fourth place at the very least. There is no way fifth, sixth and seventh-placed Melaka, Selangor and Pahang respectively could pip both Junior Rhinos and Kedah, even if they (Junior Rhinos and Kedah) lose all their remaining matches.

This leaves the remaining two quarter-final slots from the group to be fought between five teams, namely Johor Darul Ta’zim III (JDT III), Kelantan, Melaka, Selangor and Pahang.

JDT III and Kelantan are holding the upper hand over their challengers.

Third-placed JDT III are on 31 points and they need another four points from their remaining matches to clinch their ticket.

Kelantan are on 29 points, while Melaka, Selangor and Pahang, who have played a game more than the top four teams are on 25 and 24 points respectively.

Junior Rhinos’ head coach Johnny Dominicus when contacted congratulated his boys for a job well done. However, he was quick to point out that their quest for glory is far from over.

“It has been quite a while that we have not made it into the knockout stage. So, the feeling is great to have made it through.

“But now, we must set ourselves a new target, and that is to try to get past the semi-finals. But from now on, we will take one game at a time.

“Our immediate task will be to try and end our group stage on a high, which means, we want to stay where we are now,” said Johnny, who guided Sabah to their first ever gold medal at the Malaysia Games in Pahang 2012. He attributes their good run to all parties, from players, coaching staff and team management.

“This is possible because we showed great teamwork among all parties. The players also played their part. They have been working hard to improve themselves individually or as a team. We must continue with this good attitude,” he added.

“I hope that the players will not get carried away with this achievement and that they continue to work hard and give their best in our remaining four matches,” said Johnny.

For the record, the President’s Cup is taking a two-month break, and would only resume in early July. As for the Junior Rhinos, Johnny said, they are currently taking a one-week break and would resume their daily training on May 21.
